Route of a Bill Through Congress
From hippocampus.org, produced by University of CA and Monterey Institute for Technology and Education
A bill is a piece of legislation that has been proposed but has not been passed. Bills come from many sources, such as politicians, private citizens, special interest groups, and the president. However, only members of Congress have the right to introduce a bill for consideration. While Congress is in session for a two-year term, its members introduce between 10,000 and 11,000 bills. However, Congress passes only around five or six percent of the bills that are introduced. (Video is narrated with slides and speeches.)

Mrs. Matthews Penicillin and Bacteria Necklaces
From WatchKnow, produced by Kerry Matthews
Mrs. Matthews class has been learning about unicellular organisms - including bacteria.  Last week the students made bacteria beads out of play-doh during their centers.  They also made a penicillin bead to "kill off" the bacteria.  After allowing time for the play-doh to dry, the students then put all of their beads onto a necklace as they studied four famous scientists in the world of microbes (Fleming, Pasteur, Lister, and Salk).  Today they learned that Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin.  Each student made sure to include penicillin in their beaded necklace. Run time 01:00.
